Dear Kiwifruit family,
Welcome to the Tenth International Symposium on Kiwifruit (Kiwifruit-2020) which will be held in Yalova, Turkey, from 6 to 9 October 2020, under the aegis of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS).
This symposium is organized by Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute, which is an institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Kiwifruit are grown in more than 30 different countries. In addition, production is increasing every year. Kiwifruit production of Turkey has shown a great increase in the last twenty years and still represent a high growing potential. Kiwifruit were introduced to Turkey in the late 1980s. The production of kiwifruit is increasing every year, is now close to 65,000 tonnes and is increasing every year. Half of the production in Turkey is from Yalova and Bursa Provinces and the other half from the northern part of the country especially the Middle and Eastern Black Sea regions. Yalova is the heart of Turkey kiwifruit production.
Different studies with Actinidia species will be presented during the symposium. Major topics such as breeding, cultivation techniques, diseases/pests and post-harvest will be presented. In addition, papers related to other fields will also be accepted.
Yalova is a city located in north-western Turkey, near the eastern coast of the Sea of Marmara. It is only 1 hour away from Istanbul and Bursa which are two big cities. Yalova has a number of tourist attractions, such as the "Yalova Atatürk Mansion", hot springs and Black Church. The first settlement in the region dates back to the Prehistoric Period, in around 3000 BC.
We are sure that the Tenth International Symposium on Kiwifruit (Kiwifruit-2020) will be a great scientific and social experience for all of you.
